Join us for a fabulous ‘Kaffee & Kuchen’ morning!
We start our coffee morning at the Freud Museum with kaffee and apfelstrudel and a warm welcome from Museum Director, Dr Giuseppe Albano, who will recount the story of the last year of Freud’s life at 20 Maresfield Gardens.

On this day, when we mark the 84th anniversary of the death of Sigmund Freud, we will be providing an extraordinary private tour of the Museum for attendees of this event only.
Freud Museum expert, Daniel Bento, will guide you to the Museum Archives to view the couch on which Freud passed away in the early hours of 23 September 1939, here, in his Study at 20 Maresfield Gardens. Freud’s death couch is not on display and is rarely seen by the public. You will also be guided around other areas of the house which are not normally open to the public, including Sigmund Freud’s secret art deco lift, and the terrace and loggia designed for him by his architect son, Ernst Freud.
You also have the opportunity to view our critically acclaimed current exhibition, Tracing Freud on the Acropolis, which explores Freud’s visit to the ancient Greek citadel, which had occupied his thoughts since childhood, and the strange feelings it caused at the time and for many years after.
You are most welcome to continue to browse the Museum and Gift Shop at your leisure when we open to the public at 10.30am.
